How To Develop Bond With a New Dog

Like in every relationship, creating a deep bond between the dog and its human also needs some time. You have to be patient and follow these simple rules.

1. Be patient with your new dog

When it comes to creating a bond with a new dog, patience is the key. Each dog has its own personality. Some dogs might develop a bod with you overnight, while for some it may take days or weeks. Just like humans dogs also need some time to adjust to a new environment. So be patient and keep things calm and patient.

2. Follow a routine

Dogs love following a proper routine. So stick to a set schedule from day one like feeding at the same time every day, going out for daily walks at the same time, etc. This will help your dog to adjust and follow a daily routine.

3. Maintain consistency

When it comes to bond with a new dog, everyone in the family should be on the same page. You all need to be clear and consistent regarding the training. Everyone should agree on what behavior is acceptable and what isn’t. Everyone should follow the same set of rules to train the dog. Different commands from different people will only end up confusing the dog.

4. Exercise with your new dog

Physical and mental, both exercises are crucial for the well being of a dog. Make sure to take your new dog out for daily walks. This way the new dog will get familiar with the new neighborhood. Play games such as throw and fetch, hide and seek, tug of war is their favorite game.

5. Practice hand feeding

If your dog is very shy or scared, you can practice hand feeding in the initial days. Once your dog gains your trust, there would be no need for doing that. Make sure you don’t overdo hand-feeding otherwise it will become the dog’s habit and he will never eat unless you are hand feeding him.
Follow these easy tips and soon you will develop a never-ending bond with your dog. Make sure to give him treat for every good thing they do. You can get kangaroo jerky dog treats. They are tasty and your dog will love it.
